Depends on your phantoms. If you have the right ones, they can kill him while you watch. If you get a bunch of r1 spammers gathered around him, he'll make short work of them. Protip: if any of the summons appear to be a mage, pick that one. And try not to die while the mages pick him apart.

Backstab just never works for me. I go behind the enemy, breathe down their spine press r1 while letting go of every other button on my controller… The backstab has a specific "grab box" that you have to be in to activate the attack. It's basically a small trapezoid starting at your opponents feet and extending about 1-2 steps behind them. You must be in this box to activate the backstab.

How do backstabs work? Pretty simple actually, you get sort of behind your opponent, press R1 and the backstab animation should start. There are a few situations where backstabs can't be landed on your opponent. These situations are: Just after getting up from a knockdown During a stun animation
honestly i dont know where you can find this list, but take in consideration that normally light weapons have a faster backstab movement, but in absolute the the piercing sword are the faster, dagger doing more damage in backstab, and well straight sword are the best weapons in general XP You can still jolly well backstab foo's in 3, even use it as a punish. It's not like they need to work like they do in 1 to have stuff like that. All the techniques in PvP revolving around backstabs exist because for one, the game is designed poorly, and two, because unsurprisingly, such an overpowered move became a dominant strategy in PvP.
