How to force regeneration dpf mondeo Published 15 January 2010 - 12:07 PM Thought you Mk4 guys who have a fitted DPF may be interested in this from the Driving Times section. ----- said today's cars often have more computing power than any Apollo mission that first landed people on the moon.
Continued on trip towing about 350 miles a day. On the second day (500 miles since last regen) the soot levels got up to about 35%. Suddenly the truck went into regen and soot level reading jumped to 96%. The regen dropped the soot level about 2% every mile towing at 65 mph. Eventually the regen reduced the soot level to 0 and stopped.

I don't know the exact figures to expect but a new one at Idle should be near 0, maybe 0.1 or 0.2. If it is close to 1 or more than 1 then the DPF is quite blocked. Steady cruising should give a reading of a lot less than 5, maybe 1 or 2 for one in good condition. It will rise briefly during acceleration.
I have kept my regeneration disabled and let the filter % screen get to 100%. Not until then did the ecu prompt me with a message stating dpf full. Clean soon. This is the point where you can pa k and complete a commanded regen. There is some room for play here and no need to pull over and do a commanded regen.
The Exhaust Temp Sensor at the back end of the DPF had failed, (so it would not enter Regen mode), and I kept driving the truck a few days. I replaced the EGT Sensor, but the DPF soot level is apparently high enough that the truck keeps going into limp mode/reduced power, which prevents it from getting the exhaust hot enough to complete a regen.

My First Manual Regen. I'm getting ready for a 250 mile tow trip and wanted to measure fuel mileage, but went out to dinner tonight and %DPF Full was at 80% so I wanted that regen out of the way. About a mile or so before returning home, DPF went to full and a regen started. The wife didn't feel like a joy ride and I remembered the manual regen.

Coolant temp is not an indicator either. Drive the car for about 10-15mins and then pull over but don't switch off. If your idle speed is higher than normal (circa 1Krpm) then the car is attempting to conduct the regen. Drive off again and stay driving for around 25mins. Pull over again and check the idle.
Spray into long drive on motorway at high revs or forced regen see if it clears. Dealer / garage forced regen + code clear. Dpf removed and cleaned ( I had this done after first forced Regen and later fuel additive method failed and car went into limp mode in a 2010 Mazda 3 1.6 here in Ireland €500) have since sold car Most of the time the truck is regenerating because the DPF filter has become fully clogged overtime. This can lead your truck to need frequent regens, which we want to avoid. If the DPF isn’t the cause, one of these things could be what is causing your truck to regen more than normal: Dirty air filters. Clogged fuel filters. Rwp4y.
