Thoseare 29+ rims, not 29. Similar to 27.5+, the tires that fit on those rims will be larger in volume than standard 29. Most bikes will not fit them, it's generally some fat bikes and some purpose built mountain bikes that have them. First
Thisis the main advantage of a 27.5" bike, as it's goal is to utilize the advantages of both 26" & 29er bikes. • More forgiving than 26" bikes. • Larger wheels mean less suspension needed, which increases overall bike efficiency. • Higher top speed when compared to 26" bikes. • Good off the line acceleration than 29ers.
Butaround 2013, bike manufactures started talking about a new (it’s actually very old) mid-size wheel called a 27.5, offering the rolling benefits of a 29er, with the nimble handling of a 26.
Mostlyavailable in 27.5 x 3.8″, the new crop of fat bike tires measure close to the overall diameter of a 26 x 4.6″ tire but without the width. If we’re talking about a bike that used to run 26 x 4.0″ tires, upsizing to 27.5 x 3.8″ will be similar to going from a 27.5 to a 29″ wheel on a mountain bike. Better roll over, momentum, etc.29ershave been around for decades , a lot longer than 27.5 on a mtb. For years the choice was 26 or 29. If anything 27.5 was something manufacturers came up with to sell more bikes , because it’s so close to a 26 inch wheel. Also , modern geo 29ers have come a long way in the past few years and they are very maneuverable. RxiDkU2.
